Very cool, placement of clock is funny, resource usage tad high
The design of the built-in images is hilarious, with the clock sitting between rows of flamingos and settled just over the horizon. The moving water and falling snow make for a very interesting desktop, to be sure. It’s well done. Love it.
Added bonus is that you can select a pile of your own favorite photos to put into the rotation. Fun!
Keep in mind that because there is high quality video playing on some of the images, your CPU will work harder than normal and memory usage will increase. All you have to do to see this is load the Activity Monitor app from your Applications/Utilities folder to watch. On older Macs with less computing power, this could affect the responsiveness of other apps. On my iMac running at 2.8 GHz with 16 GB of RAM, it ran totally fine and didn’t cause any noticeable hiccups. On the Mac Pro running a 6-core Xeon E5 at 3.5 GHz with 16 GB of RAM, it did nothing visible to the system, but the numbers did show it was a top resource predator. ;)
Other than that, it really is a cool effect and it’s nice to watch the scenery change on your background once in a while.
